The American Express Company, also known as AMEX, is an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in New York City. The company was founded in 1850 and is best known for its charge card, credit card, and traveler’s cheque businesses. Why American Express?

One of the most well-known credit card brands in the country, American Express has built itself up as being the face of “Premium Credit Cards.” By doing so, it maintains a collection of highly sought-after cards ranging from the ultra rare Black Card to the more accessible Platinum Card.

Adding to the luxuriousness of their products, American Express has also recently started issuing more of their cards made completely of metal, rather than the typical plastic found on most others. As a result, this focus has enabled American Express to build up a massive user base and continually grow its brand exponentially since the start of the new millennium.

As time passes and more users are added, American Express will be in a better position to compete head-to-head with Visa and Mastercard in overall market adoption. And, when coupled with its long company record and other business offerings such as business travel services, banking services, and premium lounge access at airports, AMEX has a strong future ahead.
