Company Overview

Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services. Its best known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers. Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen on April 4, 1975. Since the 1990’s, Microsoft has increasingly diversified from the operating system market and has made a number of corporate acquisitions, their largest being the acquisition of LinkedIn for $26.2 billion in December 2016,[6] followed by their acquisition of Skype Technologies for $8.5 billion in May 2011. In April 2019, Microsoft reached the trillion-dollar market cap, becoming the third U.S. public company to be valued at over $1 trillion after Apple and Amazon respectively. Wikipedia

Why Microsoft?

This is a personal favorite of mine. Microsoft has tremendous potential for growth as it owns the most used operating system in the world. Practically every business runs Windows on their computers. In the past few years, Microsoft has transitioned its business to a subscription model enabling them to receive continual income every year. In addition, they introduced a all-in-one business meeting system hub called TEAMS which directly competes against services such as Zoom and SLACK. Finally, Microsoft was awarded the JEDI contract from the Department of Defense, beating out Amazon’s AWS platform with their own Azure cloud computing platform.

Growing quickly. Most used operating system in the world. Almost every corporation uses it. Less restrictive than Apple OS. Moved to a subscription model. Just introduced TEAMs which is competing strongly against SLACK. Received the JEDI contract from the DOD beating out AMAZON’s AWS with their cloud computing platform AZURE. Dividend growing well.
